Brushing without Ink: 2000-2009
Gan Yu draws inspiration from the natural beauty of Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, seal carving as well as the elements of Western minimalism and abstract art. The artist uses simple artistic language to reflect a complex, inexplicable but deeply seductive phenomenon in our contemporary life. The works on this page illustrate artist Gan Yu's hand-torn and knife-scratching techniques to create effects that resemble Chinese ink landscape paintings. The artist calls them "ink paintings without brush and ink".

      Welcome to Gan Yu's Website
From cave painting to modern art, everything brushed by the artist's hand becomes one of the mirrors of the artist's soul.
